Category Buyer – Metal

As Global Category Buyer Metal at our clients head office, you will secure uninterrupted supply of cans for this region at the lowest possible costs, whilst meeting delivery requirements and in compliance with their quality standards. The Metal category is acting globally and is the fastest growing category in terms of volumes, representing a value of €2.0 bn. It. It has the most consolidated supply base in the packaging industry and is heavily influenced by supply and demand, as well as by commodities such as aluminium and steel.

The category is executing an ambitious number of projects that will bring it to a next level. Cans are growing in importance in the AMEE region with several big-users (Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa) and OpCo’s starting to use cans. That gives lots of opportunities to contribute to the development of the category in the region and put your stamp on it.

In this role you will:

• Develop & implement multi-year category strategies
• Lead tenders and implement results with a strong focus on local sourcing
• Drive implementation of CVE-projects
• Co-drive our sustainability strategy for the metal category
• Drive our upstream sourcing- and strategic footprint development activities
• Do extensive stakeholder management, both internally (OpCo’s & Group functions) and externally (suppliers), to ‘make it happen’
• Conclude Framework Agreements between our clients and suppliers
• Secure uninterrupted supply
• Perform spend analysis, budgeting, operationalization of contracts and follow-up of ad-hoc requests
• Report on performance of the category (spend, contract compliance, benefit tracking)
• Further rationalize the category and de-complex the supply chain

• For this role we are looking for someone with the below experience and qualifications:
  
• Degree in business, financial, logistics, commercial, economical or procurement discipline
• Significant experience in procurement, supply chain or logistics, within Metal or a related Direct Materials category
• Extensive experience in strategic sourcing
• Fluent English language required (verbally & written)
