VAT Specialist For our well-known client, we are currently seeking a VAT Specialist with a minimum of 3 years of experience. They are located Amsterdam. Please read below for the description of this role:

About the role
The role will have responsibility for assisting all operational activities related to VAT filings under the scope of the financial Manager and leading the assistant VAT accountant. You will be actively involved with dozens of VAT filings (and their related reports) daily. Next to this, you will be involved with ongoing projects designed to further extend the business model of their company and help to provide the right VAT aspects.

About the company
As their VAT specialist, you will play a critical role in various VAT aspects of our entities in Europe, many of them with significant volumes. The responsibilities will vary from acting as focal point for their VAT tool, support and help developing further VAT determination capabilities, maintain our VAT master data and support with preparation of multiple VAT reports. You will be required to extract the data, review, and asses the correctness of the data, reconcile the figures and submit the VAT filings.
You will be working with advance VAT tool and contribute to the implementation of this tool in other systems.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Acting as a Focal point towards our VAT determination and reporting tool
• Maintain and enhance VAT Master data and VAT determination capabilities
• VAT filings and reconciliations of entities within the scope of European Head Quarter
• Support European Client Sales List reporting and Intrastat reporting
• Monitor and ensure adherence towards VAT filing schedule
• Assist in aligning, guiding and training of VAT regulations towards various departments within EU HQ and in other sites
• Contribute toward the implementation of VAT tool within other ERP systems
• Perform assigned internal control/Sox activities
• Ad-hoc tasks and projects

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
• 3+ years working experience as VAT specialist in a large multi-national company
• Working experience with VAT tools
• Knowledge of general and local EU VAT rules, Intrastat and EC sales listing
• Strong knowledge of front-end ERP systems, SAP and preferably QAD
• Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word, and Power point
• Business oriented and dedicated team player with a pragmatic approach
• Able to work independently with good time management skills
• Eager, result driven and problem solver
